Stop by our bright yellow booth for a fun hands-on activity at the Grayslake Famers Market, then visit our newest exhibit, "Sounds, Smells, and a Smokestack: Remembering Grayslake Gelatin" at the Grayslake Heritage Center & Museum.

West African Drum Circle

August 23 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for a West African Drum Circle in Centennial Park on Friday, August 23 at 7 PM. Back by popular demand! Medusa’s Musical Mysteries will perform, leaving empty chairs (and drums!) in the circle for anyone who wants to add their own beat.  No musical talent required, all ages welcome.

Vintage Baseball Game

Support your Grayslake Athletics as they take on the McHenry Independants (sic) in a gentlemanly game of 19th century baseball on Saturday, August 24 at 3:00 PM on the north side of Central Park.  The game takes place before the Color Aloft Balloon Festival.  Huzzah! Annual Color Aloft Balloon Festival

August 24 @ 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Central Park - enter off of Lake Street for easy access to the festival. Parking is available at Grayslake Central High School, Grayslake Middle School, Grayslake Aquatic Center, and Grayslake Library. Handicap parking is available off of Briar Gate Lane. Musical entertainment, Civil War Era baseball game, children's activities, storytelling, business booths. There are NO Food Vendors. BRING A PICNIC AND SET UP IN THE PARK! All times are approximate and weather dependent!

Lions Club Steer Roast

For the 56th year, the Grayslake Lions Club will prepare a slow-roasted beef dinner at Grayslake Middle School, 440 North Barron Blvd. (Route 83), with meal service beginning at noon and concluding at 5 p.m. The meal, including beef roasted 18 hours, corn on the cob, baked potato, fresh tomatoes, onions, dinner roll and butter is all-you-can-eat. Lake County Folk Club Open Stage

Stop by the Heritage Center for Lake County Folk Club Open Stage. Open stage nights are a fertile “training ground” for musicians and songwriters looking to hone their performance chops. You’ll never find a more supportive audience than at the LCFC. Each performer is allowed up to two songs spanning about 10 minutes. If time permits artists can perform an additional song near evening’s end. A suggested donation of $3 is encouraged.
