Begin the event at the Grayslake Area Public Library to create art in the Mobile Art Bus, engage with their collection of Juneteenth materials, and dance to music. As you journey on the Freedom Walk through Central Park, hear and read facts, get snacks, and end at the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum. While there, you can color the community map, fill a sand vase, and learn from the keynote speaker, Antwoinette Ayers, Illinois Humanities Road Scholar presentation: Juneteenth in Me: A Journey of Remembrance and Education.
This event is being produced in partnership with Illinois Humanities. The Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau invites Illinois authors, artists, and educators to share their expertise and enthusiasm with people throughout the state, enabling local nonprofit organizations to present free-admission cultural programs to their communities.
This family friendly event will be a fun learning experience for all ages.
