The Grayslake Heritage Center & Museum book club and lecture series is back by popular demand! Partnering with the Grayslake Historical Society and the Grayslake Area Public Library, three books have been chosen to highlight various elements of our regional history. Rebranded as “Pages of History” they go beyond the book to explore local history through classic and best-selling books. Each lecture will be presented by Illinois historians and will not be based exclusively on the book, but rather the context and time period surrounding each book.
“And suddenly everything, absolutely everything, was there.” Presenting the second lecture of our Pages of History in the Grayslake Heritage Center. Learn about Ray Bradbury’s beloved classic Dandelion Wine. Dandelion Wine tells the story of a young boy growing up in Green Town, which is based on Bradbury’s hometown of Waukegan. Bradbury grew wrote Dandelion Wine as an homage to his childhood, and the Manager of Cultural Arts, Ty Rohrer, will contextualize what life was like in real life Waukegan vs. Dandelion Wine’s Green Town.
