April 5th is First Contact Day to millions of Trekkies around the world and the Grayslake Heritage Center & Museum is jumping on that starship with Star Trek Day!
This is a hybrid event. Join them in person or online (link to follow) with sociology professors and authors, John & Maria Jose Tenuto, to revisit the making of 1982 iconic film “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.”
Many rare and newly discovered photographs paint the incredible picture of a company of actors and artists whose talents combined to create one of science fiction’s most critically acclaimed films. The presentation will share trivia and little-known facts about the making of the film and how it was made despite limitations of budget, time, and technology.
A special thank you to writer/director Nicholas Meyer for his permissions and the University of Iowa Library Nicholas Meyer Collection.
This event coincides with the “Growing Up X” traveling exhibit in the main floor gallery of the Grayslake Heritage Center & Museum. The “Growing Up X” exhibition is organized by the Illinois State Museum and sponsored, in part, by the Illinois State Museum Society.
